Brian Rusnica lives in Townsend, MA and is originally from Upstate New York. His hobbies that intersect with birds of prey include digital photography, graphic design, migration studies and travel.
He is a volunteer hawk migration counter in Massachusetts, and is a co-coordinator at the Mount Watatic watch site. He serves as President and sits on the Board of Directors for the Eastern Mass Hawk Watch and is a Board Member of NorthEast Hawk Watch.
In 2014, he documented a state raptor photographic ‘big year’ on his website, 14hawks8owls.com. In 2018, he documented breeding Cooper’s Hawks at twitter.com/CambridgeCoops. In 2019, he launched an online shop at hawkseason.com which features his raptor artwork. In 2019, he began leading raptor identification workshops for Mass Audubon, and has been featured as a guest speaker by the Hampshire Bird Club, Mount Auburn Cemetery, and North Fork Audubon Society.
His freelance design collaborations include work with the Cape May Raptor Banding Project, the Owl Research Institute and Raptor Tales Rescue. He serves as an administrator on the “Raptor ID” Facebook group (endorsed by HMANA and Hawkwatch International). Boal & Dykstra) and The Cooper’s Hawk (2018, Rosenfield).
